The Wild Wild West of Healthcare | Why Online Health Is So Confusing

If you’ve ever searched online for health advice, you’ve probably noticed how confusing it can be. One diet tells you to avoid carbohydrates. Another promotes them. One expert recommends supplements, while another says they’re unnecessary. Today’s online health information can feel like the wild west. Even for Dr. Chu — a surgeon and endurance athlete — navigating modern health advice took years of experience and study. That challenge is exactly why she created Chu Precision Health Center.

Yo Yo Dieting | The Real Reason Diets Stop Working

Millions of people struggle with yo-yo dieting, where weight loss is followed by frustrating weight regain. Many assume the problem is discipline or willpower, but the real cause is often much deeper. In this video, Dr. Chu draws on her experience as a bariatric surgeon for more than 20 years, where she saw thousands of patients battling repeated cycles of dieting and weight regain. The truth is that most diets treat everyone the same, even though metabolism is highly individual.

Perimenopause & Menopause — It’s Just Aging Isn’t Always True

Low energy, stubborn weight, brain fog, hormonal problems… sound familiar? Patients often hear phrases like “that’s normal for your age” or “learn to live with it.” But after spending twenty years as a surgeon, Dr. Chu began to see a different pattern. Many symptoms people accept as inevitable are actually signs of underlying biological dysfunction. At Chu Precision Health Center, the focus is on identifying and correcting these root causes rather than simply managing symptoms.

Menopause Weight Gain Explained | Why Women Over 40 Struggle to Lose Weight

Many women notice something frustrating after turning 40 or entering menopause: the weight that used to come off easily suddenly refuses to budge. Research shows that the average woman gains about 1.5 pounds per year after menopause, and many gain significantly more during the hormonal transition. But the issue isn’t simply willpower or aging. In this video, Dr. Chu explains why menopause weight gain is often driven by deeper biological factors including hormone changes, metabolic shifts, and gut health.

Alzheimers Is Not Your Destiny | Understanding Your Genetic Risk

For many people, watching a parent or grandparent develop Alzheimer’s disease or dementia creates a deep fear about their own future. But family history does not automatically determine your destiny. In this video, Dr. Chu discusses how modern precision medicine can help identify risk factors for Alzheimer’s and cognitive decline long before symptoms appear.

NEW Alzheimer’s Research Shows Cognitive Improvement with Precision Medicine

For decades, Alzheimer’s disease and cognitive decline have been viewed as conditions that can only worsen over time. Once symptoms begin, the goal of treatment has typically been to slow progression rather than improve cognitive function. But new research is challenging that long-held assumption. In this video, Dr. Uyen Chu discusses a groundbreaking clinical trial exploring how precision medicine approaches to Alzheimer’s disease may produce meaningful improvements in cognitive health.

NEW Antioxidant Scanner Technology | Prysm iO™ Explained

Chu Precision Health Center is among the early adopters of the Prysm iO™ antioxidant scanner, an advanced non-invasive technology designed to measure carotenoid levels in the skin. This information helps clinicians better understand how nutrition, lifestyle habits, and environmental exposures may be influencing a patient’s health at the biological level. In this video, Dr. Chu unboxes the new device and explains how this technology will help patients gain a clearer understanding of their cellular health.

About Dr Chu

Surgery Fixed The Outcome, But Not The Root Cause | The Surgeon Who Chose Prevention

For more than twenty years, Dr. Chu performed over 1,000 weight loss surgeries, helping patients transform their lives and regain mobility. But over time, she realized something important about modern healthcare. Most surgeries treat the consequences of chronic disease, not the root causes of illness. That realization led Dr. Chu to shift her focus from surgical intervention to preventative and precision medicine.

From Vietnam to Surgeon to Precision Medicine Doctor

Dr. Chu’s journey into medicine began long before she became a surgeon. After immigrating to the United States from Vietnam at the age of eight, she was deeply inspired by the work and compassion of Saint Teresa of Calcutta. That inspiration eventually led her to dedicate her life to helping others through medicine. During her surgical training, Dr. Chu became the first female resident in her surgical program, eventually performing more than 1,000 surgeries over the course of her career. But years in the operating room revealed something important about long-term health. Surgery can save lives, but it doesn’t always address the biological causes behind chronic illness.
